ETHERNET Powerlink Roadshow was a complete success
Frank Winter, business manager for B&R Germany, moderated the event in Bad Homburg

The roadshow initiated by Bernecker + Rainer (B&R), Eggelsberg, together with the EPSG was completed last week with the final date in Nuremberg Germany. At six events in Germany and Switzerland, approximately 300 participants from various industrial branches collected information about the application possibilities provided by ETHERNET Powerlink.
The open and independent network technology available with ETHERNET Powerlink (EPL) provides real-time Ethernet for drives, I/O, visualization and data exchange between PLC systems. The increasingly important topic of safety has already been solved by EPLsafety. Unlike fieldbus-based safety protocols, EPLsafety is the first open system to offer low cycle times of 100 µs.

"The application reports were especially convincing when describing the many possibilities ETHERNET Powerlink provides as compared to other systems", said Klaus Korger, business manager for Leine & Linde Germany.

With ETHERNET Powerlink, B&R has developed a network standard that is now being used by more than 300 companies for 70,000 installed nodes throughout the world and has been declared an ISO and IEC standard. Because of the large response, the events will be continued later in 2005.

For more than 25 years, "Perfection in Automation" has been a recipe for success for the Austrian company B&R. 1,100 employees and an international network of subsidiaries in more than 50 countries guarantee further expansion for this high-tech company. In addition to control and drive components, the product portfolio also includes intelligent system integration for complex automation solutions.
